TESTIMONIAL

What They Said About Us

Super stoked to finally be working with a solar company that actually gives a dam about the homeowner. They don't price gouge and they put the homeowner's interest and value before anything else. They are super transparent and easy to talk to. I love the Net Zero Home package that lets the homeowner track usage and solar production together, totally recommend so far..”

Why Go Solar Now??

Sustainability

As custodians of our environment, we collectively bear the responsibility of its stewardship. With climate change effects becoming increasingly evident in our daily lives, more individuals are proactively taking action. Our clients are embracing various measures, from adopting solar energy systems to incorporating electric vehicle charging stations, and even disconnecting from traditional utility grids. Whatever your vision for a sustainable future entails, we're here to collaborate with you, ensuring your actions leave a positive legacy for generations to come.

Since our inception in 2010, solar installation has been our expertise. Initially, battery energy storage was predominantly sought after for off-grid living, a trend still prevalent among some of our clients. However, with the Pacific Northwest witnessing heightened climate fluctuations and more frequent natural calamities, on-grid homeowners are proactively preparing for potential power outages. Solar coupled with battery energy storage systems now offer not just energy independence but also advantages like load management, smart home integration, and electric vehicle support. Our team specializes in crafting resilient solutions, having equipped various vital infrastructures such as hospitals, schools, fire departments, and emergency shelters with solar and battery setups. With our expertise, rest assured that even in grid failures, your essential services remain uninterrupted.

Resiliency

What About the Money??

At Kumquat Solar, we've partnered with numerous homeowners to realize their sustainability aspirations, tailoring systems to suit their unique needs and budget constraints. When considering solar solutions for your property, we understand the significance of financial factors. Here are key financial considerations we prioritize when assessing your project

Levelized Cost of Energy

The Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) is a crucial financial indicator revealing the genuine expense of generating one kilowatt-hour of electricity. By factoring in installation costs (net of incentives), financing expenses, and projected operational costs over the system's lifespan, we derive the LCOE. This calculation offers insight into the actual cost of solar energy per kilowatt-hour, mirroring the methodology utilities employ for conventional power plant energy costs. Our recent quotations for outright system purchases have shown an average LCOE of $.033/kWh for residential photovoltaic systems in the Pacific Northwest. In contrast, current residential utility rates range between $.09 and $.12 per kWh. With utility prices escalating by an average of 4% annually over the last decade, this upward trend is expected to continue. However, upon owning a solar system, your kilowatt-hour price remains fixed for the system's entire lifespan, shielding you from future utility rate hikes.

According to a recent 2019 study conducted by Zillow, integrating solar panels into your home can boost its resale value by an average of 4.1% nationwide. Applying these findings to Portland, Oregon, where the median home sale price stands at $488,000, this translates to an estimated increase of $20,008 in the selling price with solar panels installed. Considering the current average installed price of approximately $3.15 per watt and an average system size of 5 kW (equivalent to $15,750 before incentives and tax credits), the potential financial benefits become evident. Even without factoring in the energy savings on your utility bill, investing in solar emerges as a wise decision.

Home Value

Financial Incentives

Navigating the landscape of financial and tax incentives can be complex, especially considering that these incentives often undergo changes over time. At Imagine Energy, we prioritize keeping abreast of these fluctuations to ensure that our clients benefit from the most up-to-date information available. While the specifics of incentives and financing options may vary based on location and other factors, our dedicated team is here to provide you with comprehensive guidance tailored to your unique circumstances. Our Incentives and Financing section is designed to streamline this process, offering valuable insights and resources to help you make informed decisions about why you should go solar NOW. Whether it's tax credits, rebates, or financing programs, we strive to demystify these opportunities and empower you to take full advantage of the benefits they offer. Get in touch with us today for a personalized solar consultation and discover how you can maximize your savings while embarking on your solar journey.

What Type Of Solar Is Right for Me?

Roof Top Solar

With our extensive experience and expertise, we're equipped to install solar systems on virtually any rooftop you present to us. Our rooftop solar installations are not only meticulously designed but also exude aesthetic appeal. Our goal extends beyond the present; we envision a future where anyone inspecting your Imagine Energy solar system two decades from now will be astounded by its resilience and craftsmanship. We take pride in our ability to blend functionality seamlessly with visual elegance, ensuring that your solar installation not only meets your current needs but also stands the test of time, leaving a lasting impression for generations to come.

Ground Mount

For homeowners who are eager to transition to solar energy but find themselves with less-than-ideal rooftop conditions, there's no need to worry. If you have ample open space surrounding your residence, a ground-mounted solar system presents an excellent alternative. By utilizing available land adjacent to your home, you can still harness the power of the sun to meet your energy needs effectively. Ground-mounted systems offer flexibility in placement and orientation, allowing for optimal sunlight exposure and energy production. Moreover, they eliminate any limitations posed by roof structure or orientation, ensuring that your solar investment yields maximum returns. Whether you're dealing with shading issues or simply prefer an alternative to rooftop installation, a ground-mounted system could be the perfect solution for you. Contact us today to explore the possibilities and discover how we can tailor a solar solution to suit your unique property layout and energy goals.

Should I Get A Battery??

Backup Energy Storage

Integrating battery energy storage systems into your home is a cornerstone of enhancing its resilience and protecting you against any blackouts or brown outs. These systems offer not only energy independence from the power grid during critical moments but also a range of supplementary benefits, including load shifting, smart home energy management, and seamless integration with electric vehicle systems. What's even more promising is that the technology behind these systems is continuously advancing, becoming more powerful, efficient, and cost-effective with each passing year. At Kumquat Solar, we recognize that every homeowner's energy requirements are unique, which is why we eschew one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, our designs are meticulously tailored to address your specific needs and circumstances. For many homeowners, augmenting their solar power setup with a battery energy storage system proves to be an invaluable investment, offering enhanced functionality, security, and peace of mind. Not only does this fortify your home's energy infrastructure for the present, but it also future-proofs it for years to come.

What About My Electric Car? (EV)

Electric Vehicle Charging

Chances are, you or someone you know has already embraced the electric vehicle (EV) revolution and is thoroughly enjoying the experience of not buying gas anymore. With an increasing array of new EV models hitting the market, it's evident that EV technology is rapidly evolving, with adoption rates following suit. However, it's the EV charger that serves as the vital lifeline for your electric vehicle. Leveraging the latest advancements in solar inverter technology, Kumquat Solar offers solutions that enable direct current (DC) charging for your EV(s), delivering significantly faster and more efficient charging compared to conventional home outlets. Over the years, we've installed numerous standalone EV chargers and integrated many more into solar inverter-based systems, ensuring that your home is "EV ready." Even if you're contemplating an EV purchase a few years down the line, there are compelling reasons to consider incorporating an EV charger into your home energy setup today. Reach out to us to learn how you can future-proof not just your home but also your garage, ensuring seamless integration with your evolving energy needs.

Incentives & Financing

Going solar is a good thing for your community and for your wallet. There are a variety of financial incentives available to assist:

2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA):

The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act introduces significant incentives for residential solar energy systems. One of the key highlights is a nonrefundable federal tax credit of 30%, applicable to almost all expenses associated with the project. Notably, there's no upper limit on the project's cost, meaning that regardless of the scale of your residential solar energy project, it qualifies for this credit. This solar tax credit is applicable to projects initiated in 2022 and extends through 2032, providing an extended window of opportunity for homeowners. Additionally, the legislation extends this tax credit to include energy storage systems (battery backup) with a capacity exceeding 3 kWh. Even standalone energy storage systems become eligible for this credit, albeit for purchases made after December 31, 2022. With these incentives in place, there has never been a more favorable time to transition to solar energy!

When you choose to install a solar energy system with Kumquat Solar, you gain access to valuable cash rebates offered by the Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO). These rebates serve to significantly reduce the purchase price of your system, making the transition to solar power even more financially attractive. Available exclusively to PGE or Pacific Power customers in Oregon, these rebates are subject to fluctuation throughout the year depending on funding availability. As a trusted and longstanding ETO Trade Ally, Imagine Energy is committed to maximizing the benefits you receive from these rebates. Our team stays abreast of the latest rebate offerings and ensures that you secure the highest available rebate for your solar energy system. With Kumquat Solar by your side, you can rest assured that you're making the most of every opportunity to save on your solar investment.

Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO):

Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) Solar + Storage Rebate Program:

The Oregon Solar + Storage Rebate Program offers valuable incentives for both solar electric and combined solar plus battery backup systems, exclusively tailored for residential customers in Oregon. As an approved contractor under this program, Imagine Energy ensures that you receive these rebates directly, upfront, passing on the savings directly to you. For qualifying low- and moderate-income customers, rebates cover $1.80 per watt (DC) of installed capacity, covering up to 60% of the net cost or $5,000, whichever is lower. For homeowners falling outside the low- or moderate-income bracket but still eligible for electric utility incentives, rebates amount to $0.20 per watt (DC) of installed capacity, covering up to 40% of the net cost or $5,000, whichever is lower. Similarly, for homeowners not classified as low- or moderate-income and ineligible for electric utility incentives, rebates amount to $0.50 per watt (DC) of installed capacity, covering up to 40% of the net cost or $5,000, whichever is lower. The maximum rebate stands at $5,000 for solar electric systems and $2,500 for energy storage systems. Importantly, funding is still available for all eligible parties, ensuring that you can take advantage of these incentives to make your solar energy dreams a reality. Call Us Today
